This updated advisory is a follow-up to the original advisory titled ICSA-22-195-07 Siemens Datalogics file Parsing Vulnerability that was published July 14, 2022, on the ICS webpage on cisa.gov/ics

3. RISK EVALUATION

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could crash a system or potentially lead to arbitrary code execution if a user opens a malicious PDF file.

4.2 VULNERABILITY OVERVIEW

4.2.1    HEAP-BASED BUFFER OVERFLOW CWE-122

The APDFL.dll contains an out-of-bounds write past the fixed-length heap-based buffer while parsing specially crafted PDF files. This could allow an attacker to execute code in the context of the current process.

CVE-2022-2069 has been assigned to this vulnerability. A CVSS v3 base score of 7.8 has been assigned; the CVSS vector string is (AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).
